Consistent practices are the key to Champion Door’s effective project management
In large-scale construction projects, construction companies often navigate various complexities along the way. Coordinating multiple suppliers and stakeholders while maintaining timelines and budgets is a balance that can easily be disrupted by even the slightest obstacle. To ensure no obstacles arise in the delivery of the building’s doors, Champion Door is committed to a streamlined, accurate project management process that ensures timely deliveries and clear communication towards all involved parties.
Process flows seamlessly from start to finish
Whether the project involves 35 extra-large doors delivered to the other side of the world or one divider wall delivered 50 kilometers from the factory, the Champion Door process progresses in the exact same way. After the sales stage, the project moves onto project management, design, production, installation and finally, service. All projects involve tight cooperation between different sectors of the international Champion Door team. According to Project Manager Mervi Kajuutti, the keys to successful project management are consistent practices and patience.
“Some of the ways we ensure consistency include having the same specific documentation employed in every stage of the project and documenting the project’s information in the same, pre-defined, outlined form. When processes are carefully thought out, each process owner can focus on their own work and have confidence in their colleagues fulfilling their responsibilities. The entire process chain flows seamlessly from start to finish, which is something we excel in.”
Customers value clarity
Another result of Champion Door’s consistent practices is unified communication towards the customer and the other suppliers. When all parties have their own role in the project and their own schedules to maintain, punctuality is of the essence. All stakeholders must be provided with the correct, current information and kept up-to-date on schedules and progress.
“In addition to the ability to adhere to project timelines, clarity is something we consistently receive positive feedback on. We have great expertise in asking the right questions from the very beginning, which leads to us having a solid understanding of the customer’s operations as well as the building and the surrounding conditions”, Kajuutti says.
Customers also benefit from having the same contact person throughout the project, allowing them easy access to support and expertise tailored to their specific needs. Champion Door’s local presence in different areas of operation is another major advantage – Champion Door professionals have knowledge of local business, customs and practices and are able to personally support, for example, the installation team.
Working together towards the common end goal
According to Kajuutti, the nature of Champion Door’s projects has morphed over time. Doors that used to be extra large are now standard products. On account of a favorable market position, the quantity of projects is also steadily growing. The rise in both the quantity and complexity of projects has resulted in heightened demands, all of which Champion Door is adept at fulfilling.
“At the end of the day, no matter the extent of the project or whether we are talking about the present day or the years to come, it all comes down to one thing: that we at Champion Door value each other’s work and work together towards the common end goal: to deliver a product that the customer is satisfied with and that we can proud of.”
